Ilo-ilo Battle Royale!

We got scorching graffiti action Iloilo courtesy of "U Swag Ilo-ilo Productions". Last August 25, 2012, the Ilonggo productions held "Batoru Rowairu", their answer to Japan's dystopic novel of the same name. But this time, no guns or random weapon objects were given and the battles are not fights to the death. Instead, it was pure fun under the sun's heat as writers battled over piecings and sketches, MCs over the best beats and rhymes and thrashers over the best flips. In Thirdworld Skatepark, Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City-- "Battle Royale" also celebrates KSIN's anniversary. More highlights from the event: And don't think it's over because there's "The Aftermath". The "Aftermath" invites writers to come to Laguda, La Paz, Iloilo this September 1 (that's tomorrow!) to paint in monochrome (black, white and gray) because as they say "style needs no colors." The current graffiti wars in Bacolod has prompted several concerned writers to hold a one day paint sesh for all Bacolod crews in hopes of fostering unity. According to Dolocab Crew in their FB account, the graffiti scene in Bacolod is dying because of the graffiti wars caused by shameless beefing. They aim to usher in a new era of understanding through this event.

FUCK YOU!

FUCK YOU! Yeah, fuck you was the title of the pop-up art show that Streetkonect curated last Friday, August 3 at Turtle's Nest Book Cafe and Gallery in Cebu City.  It was a small gathering of artist and enthusiast a like. The show was opened by Kidlat of Ubec and was followed by a sweet spoken word performance by Marie Dela Paz.  Here's a copy of what Marie performed in case you guys didn't catch it. We're still trying to compile the photos so we'll post them next time.  In the meantime just visit the artworks at Turtle's Nest Book Cafe and Gallery at Lahug, Cebu City. Thanks to Uzi Emperado and Kidlat of The Junks, all the artists who joined the show and helped out, and to those who went to the opening. If anyone's interested with any of the artworks just contact Lee (09228449898). THANK YOU and FUCK YOU!
