Last year, Gerome Soriano, a Fine Arts graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas, won Best Portfolio in Photography at Behance Manila Portfolio Reviews held at 98b Art Collaboratory. One of the things that was impressive about his photography was the method he used to capture aerial images--using a kite contraption. Kite aerial photography has been around for more than a century. The first kite aerial photographs were taken in 1887 by British meteorolist Donald Archibald. In the Philippines, Gerome Soriano is one of the very few who's taking the craft seriously. He started doing it for his college thesis at UST's College of Fine Arts and Design. This earned him a best thesis award and a place in the University's 2011-2012 Best Thesis Exhbition at Beato Angelico building in July 2012. Streetkonect exchanged messages with him on Facebook.
